Cancer agency fires employee who allegedly stole from patients’ fund
The Saskatchewan Cancer Agency has fired an employee who allegedly stole between $1,500 and $3,750 – funds meant for financial assistance to patients.

The revelation was made by the province in its loss of public money report for the period October 1 to December 31, 2017, reported The Star Phoenix.

The agency conducted an internal investigation and terminated the employee while also reporting the incident to the worker’s professional association.

As a result of the incident, the agency’s internal controls are being strengthened. It is also looking to recover the lost funds from the former employee, the report said.
