If it has been 72 days and you’ve still not filled the position, the talent pool assumes there’s a reason no one wants the role.

    Mark Bull has is right. Many hiring managers are hesitant to hire the first candidte out of the gate as they fear the person to be too good to be true. But if the recruiter has done a good job of expressing what the position needs for someone to find satisfaction and understands the organization's culture, the best will apply and the first is usually the best.
