The employee who is the first to arrive and the last to leave may be the celebrated ideal, but alongside a growing trend of workaholic support groups, is it time to declare the emperor is not wearing any clothes?

Workaholism is sometimes the result of poor self esteem but often the result of very demanding superiors. Mid level execs are bullied into believing that they will be replaced or considered not to be team players if they leave even half an hour after the work day ends.

Workaholism can be tangled up with self esteem. A person needs a lot of areas for feeling good about themselves or when the burnout hits there will be nowhere to fall back to, just a sense of failure.
