If the Liberal government cared for the mental health of their employees they could simply offer psychological services as a health benefit of more than the current offering of only $25 per half-hour. (The Ontario Psychological Association’s 2017 rate schedule for psychological services is $225 per hour.) If the government cared about the mental health of the people of Ontario, they would cover psychological services under the provincial healthcare plan (OHIP). We know that physician offices, clinics, and hospital emergency rooms are overburdened by people suffering from anxiety and depression. $183,065 is a pitiful contribution to a problem to which the government knows the answer. Fund psychological services for all Ontarians under OHIP.
