Did the hardware store chain conspire to rip off dozens of HR managers? That’s what the courts are deciding.

    Thankfully, that would be a quick case here in Canada (BC at least). It is clear that managers need to actually perform the duties of a manager in order to qualify for exemption.

    I was a HR Mgr. for 20 years and never once was cleaning bathrooms and sweeping floors listed in my responsible duties. However the duties did include, developing job descriptions, interviewing applicants, overseeing benefit plans, sometimes even preparing work schedules, but never never those unrelated duties. Makes one wonder for sure..........
