Employment in Canada increases by 42K jobs in March 2018

Employment in Canada increased by 42,800 jobs from February to March, according to the March ADP Canada National Employment Report.

The report looks at payroll data and measures the changes in payroll employment from month to month on a seasonally-adjusted basis.

"Overall, Canada experienced robust hiring in the month of March despite a tepid performance in some industries," added Ahu Yildirmaz, vice-president and co-head of the ADP Research Institute.

"While there were losses in finance, information and education, they were outpaced by significant growth in the construction industry."

Natural Resources and Mining: 5,700

Trade/Transportation and Utilities: 6,800

Information: -2,700

Finance/Real Estate: -9,600

Professional/Business Services: 5,900

Professional/Technical: 8,100

Management of Companies: 1,600

Administrative and Support: -3,900

Education & Health Care: -800

Educational Services: -6,800

Health Care: 6,000

Leisure and Hospitality: 260

Other Services: 12,700
