Why HR?
I have always enjoyed working with people and have a passion for processes and improvement, so why not…it just makes good career sense.

How would you sum up HR pros in three words?
Provides employee direction

How would you change the industry?
It’s difficult to change, but there is always room for improvement within this industry and others. That being said, change is happening all the time, just look at how far HR has come over the past 5 years.

What’s the most important thing an HR pro can do to develop their business?
Make sure you have all policies, processes and procedures documented and use different means and medians of training. Most employees don’t have time to sift through information, make it simple stupid and easy to follow. You need complete buy in.

If you were Prime Minister for one day, what would you do?
Probably lower taxes and keep Canadians in Canada as opposed to going to the US. I think province to province there is a lot of disparity, better alignment. Or perhaps take advantage of being a PM to meet high and powerful people.

What has been the highlight of your career?
The highlight has been starting my own HR consulting company in the past and helping establish the Careers section for the 24 Hours newspaper as a weekly writer

What’s your favoured style of coffee?
Coffee should be appreciated as is as opposed to making it all fashionable and dressing it up. A straight up Americano.

Hockey, football, baseball or other?
I love all sports, but sticking to my great Canadian roots, Hockey always wins out.

If you could invite three people to dinner, dead or alive, and excluding family and friends, who would they be and why?
I need more than three, I want a BIG dinner party. Come on this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, let’s make this a real social events at Casa Manji.

Complete this sentence: If I wasn’t in HR, I would be…
I love being creative and a passion for travel. So either a guy who travels the world and shares experiences and stories or perhaps an architect or marketing.
