A tech start-up’s automated virtual assistant has taken out the grand prize in the Tech Den start-up competition at Canada’s inaugural HR Tech Summit.

Winner Zoom.ai was one of five start-ups that pitched and explained their innovative tech solutions to a panel of judges and investors at the event in Toronto on Tuesday.

Zoom.ai’s automated assistant was chosen as the winner by Talent Tech Labs’ managing director Jonathan Kestenbaum, MaRS Investment Accelerator Fund director Michelle McBane and Crowdmatrix vice president of wealth creation Leah Carr.

Zoom.ai won a $20,000 marketing campaign from Key Media in HRD Magazine and HRD Online, and also have the opportunity to secure funding from one of the investors.

The company, founded in 2016, aims to automate operational tasks through a virtual assistant, to minimize workplace distractions and enable workers to get other duties done.

The system takes charge of meeting scheduling and preparation, travel logistics, and other organizational tasks.

Canada’s first tech summit drew 550 HR industry insiders from across the country to learn more about utilising cutting edge technology to grow their business’ competitive advantage.
