Helping employees return from disability leave can be daunting, but for staff with mental illness there can be even more confusion. What can you do to ease their return to work?

    Like any other return to work situation, there needs to be follow up to ensure that the original accomodations are actually effective for the employee. The employee needs to know with certainty that if they are encountering challenges, they should address them immediately with either their manager or HR. We can usually tell if an employee returning from other disabilities is in pain or running out of strength before end of shift, but we rarely see when someone is struggling with their psychiatric disability.
