I can honestly say it's not a location I had ever considered looking at for employment. But after reading this article, it doesn't sound so bad.

I spent 12 years in the north--Yellowknife, Cambridge Bay and Rankin Inlet. Canada's North an amazing place to live and I highly recommend it to anyone. Yellowknife has a lot more facilities than "southern" cities of similar size and it really isn't that isolated.
